No, we do not prescribe testosterone. Testosterone is a controlled substance and is subject to specific federal and state rules. It also would not be appropriate to do via telemedicine as it is hard to dose for women in the US due to a lack of female dosed products and requires regular exams and blood tests to make sure there aren’t side effects.

Unlike estrogen and progesterone, testosterone does not actually decrease at menopause unless a woman’s ovaries are removed. It is not a routinely replaced hormone for that reason. There is some data for using very low dose testosterone for sexual function, but this should be closely followed and regulated.
